Great Debaters?

With all the hype about the new Denzel Washington
and Forrest Whitaker movie,
"The Grear Debaters" based on the
1930's Wiley College debate team
who would take on any and all challengers,
well they have a good story.

But the great story was, as still is, located some twenty some odd miles
west of Marshall, Texas,
and not 70+ years ago rather just a few evenings ago.
Yes, I'm talking about . . .
"The Pretty Good Debaters"

They only debate "team" with the
blindingly fast wit to
debate themselves...
You'll be amazed by such
deep and dramatic dialogue
like this, between the
debate team captain, Dr. Lucky, and
the team member playfully
known as "Trick",

Dr. Lucky: Well ?...
Trick: I dunno.
Dr. Lucky: Beer?
Trick: O.K.
Dr. Lucky:Well?
Trick: I dunno.
Dr. Lucky: Huh!
Trick: Well?
Dr. Lucky: I dunno!
Trick: I dunno, either.
Dr. Lucky: Beer?
Trick: O.K.

"THE PRETTY GOOD DEBATERS"
Catch it, Every Tuesday, Only at
Ray Gene's West End
Hangout.
Catch it soon! With Their track record,
it just might be a "Limited Engagement."

Stupid Rabbitt Brings Back Those Holiday Traditions That Mean So Much

40 whacks of Christmas Joy (Hoy,Hoy):
Since the beginning traditions are what makes Christmas so special. So are well known such as Christmas Trees, decorations, Stockings hung by the chimney with care, and good ole wassail. Some are not so well known. Such is the tradition of Christmas spankings. Which dates back to the middle ages and the Renaissance and has been the subject of many artists as seen below in Raphael's "The Whackin' at the Manger":

and carried through to the late 1800's as depicted in early "funny papers" of the time as depicted in the "Whackinjammer Kidz" strip:

This revelry carried through to the Roaring Twenty's where most of the roaring came from those flappers receiving a hearty whacking on the tush:

Christmas spanking hit its zenith during the war years where there was little else to give during Christmas due to mandatory rationing and the shortage of products from Japan, since most of their able bodied population were either in the war related industries, the army, or kamikaze corps. Hence, many Christmas movies of the time featured spanking scenes like the famous "Spanking of Baby Snookum's" series of movies:

With the post war years bringing a new wealth of inovation such as television, TV dinners, cars with fins, and dance crazes such as the twist, which actually originated when Chubby Checker's mom tried to give him his annual Christmas spanking,
the tradition of spanking was lost to the more lavish and glamorous traditions. As a matter of fact the last know instance of the tradition was part of the 1959 "Lassie Christmas Special" when Timmy at the urging of Lassie herself received his last public whacking:

You can now revive and relive this lost tradition of Christmas with:

available only at the local record store!

Sphopng thiw Drs Lesiasha or Shopping with Dyslexia

Day Eight of endless Holiday Christmas Cheer ;~) (If you missed day seven, you lost out on a superior entry!)

Shopping with dyslexia can be a real pain. I was shopping for Mark Lane a regular Tuesday night Brain Trust contributor, when the old dyslexia kicked in and this is what I was faced with:

After several minutes of indecision, I'm now in possession of a case of the finest brown elixar available, yes a case of Royal Crown Two Liter Bottles to pass out for Christmas. I'm still not all that sure about the proof level on these babies but the sugar content is off the scale. Therefore, from now on I'm ONLY giving the gift of mucilage er, I mean Music (Madam that dyslexicon). So how about a little Christmas Shopping Music?

Music from your old pals o' the choral I mean "corral"
is waiting right here.

Check that Rx Loggy

This just in:
A nice, calm and respectable lady went into the pharmacy, walked up to the pharmacist, looked straight into his eyes, and said, "I would like to buy some cyanide."

The pharmacist asked, "Why in the world do you need cyanide?" The lady replied, "I need it to poison my husband." The pharmacist's eyes got big and he exclaimed, "Lord have mercy! I can't give you cyanide to kill your husband. That's against the law! I'll lose my license! They'll throw both of us in jail! All kinds of bad things will happen. Absolutely not! You CANNOT have any cyanide!"

The lady reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist's wife. The pharmacist looked at the picture and replied, "Well now, that's different. You didn't tell me you had a prescription."

Exercise for people over 50

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of
room
at each side. With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms

straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can.
Try
to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that
you can hold
this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks. Then try
50-lb potato
sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb
potato sack
in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.
(I'm at this level.)

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the
sacks. Good Luck.
