Why I Like Love My U S Representative

This is an article from the Tyler paper and one you may not see in the Longview News:

Gohmert Proposes Skipping Fed Income Tax
By ADAM RUSSELL Staff Writer

"U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler, proposed that the U.S. government stimulate the country's economy by collecting no federal income tax this year.

Aside from the hundreds of billions of dollars in bailout money appropriated by Congress and the Senate recently, Gohmert said, total economic obligation has topped $7.7 trillion so far.

Gohmert said, as the current administration continues obligating trillions of taxpayer dollars to bail out failing businesses, a better, cheaper solution to revive the economy would be to suspend collection of the estimated $1.2 trillion the U.S. Treasury will receive in 2008.

"Secretary (of Treasury Henry) Paulson continues his unfettered spending spree and is driving our country further from the core capitalist principles on which it was founded," Gohmert said in a statement. "His and the Fed's bailouts in the past few months have set a dangerous and unmistakable precedent to nationalize or socialize our banking, insurance and investment firms; and now car companies and other industries, states and cities are also lined up with hands out.

"I am proposing that we end the giveaway power of Secretary Paulson and the Fed immediately and declare that taxpayers will pay no 2008 income taxes," he said.

Gohmert said the influx of money back into taxpayer's hands will create a surge in the economy. He said cars will be bought, houses will be built, mortgages paid, credit cards paid off and Christmas presents bought.

The stimulating effects of no federal tax would also provide a tax boon to states and cities that desperately need money to repair and build infrastructure, he said.

Gohmert said he was upset to hear disconcerting reports that some of the banks receiving bailout money will not use it to make more loans or shore up 'troubled assets' but will instead use the money to buy up smaller competitors, basically using tax dollars to monopolize banking."

He said these problems within the bailout signal why direct government intervention cannot and will not work. Gohmert proposes letting people that earn the money, the taxpayers, decide who gets bailed out by buying products and utilizing the companies that are best meeting their needs.

"My idea may sound unconventional, but it is trillions of dollars cheaper than our current course," he said. "My proposal actually relies on our nation's founding democratic principles that made us the greatest nation in the world before anyone ever heard of Mr. Henry Paulson."

Thank you Louie for looking out for the little guy.

To My Democrat Friends Looking For Free Music...

...due to the dubious outcome of the recent "election" the management of Stupid Rabbit will no longer be contributing "free music" by charity. Hopefully, the new administration, in their increased taxation plans, will be redistributing "free music" with their time of change. When taxes increase, charity suffers. Sucks, don't it.

How About DEM Gas Prices - The Challenge

This week the Democrat controlled Congress defeated a bill which would allow the US to drill for known oil deposits off the coast of Florida. The party of the little guy has put it to us, again, just as gas prices hit an all time high at DOUBLE the price it was when they took office. But to add insult to all of this, CHINA is now drilling 50 miles off the coast of Key West, Florida. We can do better than this!

The challenge to you is to contact the Congress and tell them you do not want any more excuses why we can't use our own resources, which will take the power out of the hands of the commodity speculators who are driving up the oil futures. Now, here is my friend Chuck Norris with more on what you can do:

Again, I welcome ALL comments in the comments section for anyone who wishes to take up / defend the Democrats actions. Well...

Something Old and "Something New"

Something for You

How About DEM Gas Prices, Again.

The current oil crisis can go away for a whole generation if the Bakken oil region of the Northwest can be develpoed. There are an estimated 40 BILLION barrels of oil about a mile and a half down and Montana wants to get it AND build refineries to process it, without the federal government's help - thank you. Since the Democrat's gained the control of Congress after the 2006 election, gas prices are up about 1.75 a gallon and are approaching a record price of $4.00 gal.

Who says? Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer(a Democrat no less) does, adding that his state - with fewer than 1 million residents - would be thrilled to bail the US out of its current energy predicament.
It's so much, in fact, that a discovery like that - or even hints of such a find - could ruin speculators' chances of getting the price of oil much higher than it already is. In fact, just the knowledge of such big oil deposits - together with a drop off in fuel use because of the recession and the inevitable development of alternative energy sources - might cause gasoline prices to fall substantially in the future.

As it is today, Americans are being cheated on the price of oil. I've been writing about this for the past couple of years and now even a do-nothing Congress is getting concerned.

Wall Street speculators, aided by cheap money from the Federal Reserve and an ill-informed press, have kidnapped oil in much the same way that the Hunt brothers cornered the silver market in the 1970s. But maybe if we start digging in Montana, we just might get our national dignity back - and even save our economy.

"We've been drilling out there for 70 years," said Schweitzer of the Bakken area. "People there like new oil production. In fact, the city of Sydney wants to build a refinery. Where else in America do you have a community that says, 'we want to build a refinery in our backyard?' "

With improved technology today and higher prices, this recovery method is now very feasible. "And the nice thing," Schweitzer said, "is it's one drill hole per section." For you city slickers, a "section" is a huge 640 acres.

What, were you expecting music, too?

Bo Diddley Dead At 79.

TooBlue Fest, Dallas, TX - 1999

Bo Diddley died of heart failure today at his home in Archer, Fla. He was 79.
Diddley, whose signature beat influenced musicians from Buddy Holly to the Rolling Stones and U2 during a 40 year career. His cigar box shaped guitar – which he rigged with electronic gadgets to create his otherwordly tremolo sound and the Bo Diddley beat were essential to the rhythms of rock 'n' roll. Bo Diddley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. He had suffered stroke during a performance in Iowa last year and heart attack last August.

Quick add this up! 38,711 + 2626 + 1199, O.K what did you get? Now what exactly could this represent? Come on...guess. If your stumped, I'll tell you (unless you are Stump - then I'll still tell you) That's the number, give or take a few random songs on the F:Really Big Hard drive. This adds up to over 2,500 album folders. Some, like the Really Big Beatle Tribute, hold over 900 songs...and what does this mean? Well, I don't really know, but I'm going to take a break on the Rapidshare acct for a few months - but this shouldn't affect the Pando Pals or blog. This will give me a chance to better catalog the selections I have, and while I'm at it I'll still snag the occasional "new" old find - 'cause you can never have too many of the likes of these . . .

The Real Alleyfest

With Alleyfest "30" a few weeks away, naturally the subject came up tonight as to which year(s) were the best. Some though the middle years, while I thought we had just hit our stride before the bottom fell out in 2003. For those who may not remember, here is the real background to Alleyfest which will be 16 years old this year, AlleyArt is 30.

Alleyfest was the brainchild of 100 Acres of Heritage president, Jay Godfrey. He suggested combining AlleyArt, Alley Hoops, and Alley Musicfest into one three day event - rather than three one day events. This would save man power and cash resources for the group. The philosophy behind the music fest was simple, bring as many professional touring acts as budget allowed. We knew two things, for many it would be the only live art performance they would see during the year and almost all of the bands would not perform in a small city like Longview. Alley Musicfest was a spin off of Rigadoon held in 1989, and later changed to Musicfest in 1990 and 1991. Gary Primich, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Trout Fishing in America, Christine Albert, Dallas Brass and Electric and The Bluebirds palyed these events.

This is a lsit of the Alleyfest atrists:
Alleyfest 1992 – 2002
1992 : Dallas Brass and Electric, The Stratoblasters, The Carribean Connection, Warren Ceasar Zydeco Band, The Old Fiddler's Contest, TheOriginal Dixie Chicks.
1993 : Brave Combo, Walter Hyatt, Joe Kubek and B'nois King, The Bluebird's with Micki Hunneycutt, Michael Johnson and the Killer Bees , and Joe King Carracso and the Crowns. Joe and Michael teamed up together for a last set of Raggae meets Tex-Mex that blew away the whole crowd.
1994 : Anson Funderburg and the Rockets with Sam Meyer , Toni Price, Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters , Wayne Toups and Zydecajun, Brian Black, Webb Wilder, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
1995:Big Daddy Kinsey and the Kinsey Report, Chris Duarte, Doyle Bramhall, Tutu Jones, R. L. Griffin and the Holt House Review, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jo-El Sonnier, Trout Fishing in America, Joe Ely, and the Back Seat Drivers.

1996 :Our first national headliner, Elvin Bishop, Russell Jackson Band, Big Mike Griffin, Sue Foley, Tommy Castro, Mitch Woods and the Rocket 88s, rock a billy star,Ronnie Dawson; Tiesco Del Ray and the Nut Rockers, The Naughty Ones, and Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones.
1997 : Katie Webster and Vasti Jackson,Jimmy Hall and the Prisoners of Love, Russell Jackson, Mem Shannon and the Membership, Sean Costello and the Jivebombers, The Cate Brothers , Sam Taylor, the Bluebirds, The Radio Kings ,and local bands Mr. Walker and Dr. Benjamin and Van Go.
1998: Eric Burdon's I Band featuring Ansley Dunbar, Long John Hunter, Sherman Robertson, Russell Jackson, Bryan Lee, The Bluebirds, Micheal Burks, Wes Jeans. Hash Brown's Band with Andrew Baxter, Jr., Sun Pie Barnes and the Zydeco Sunspots, and Hippie Gumbo.

1999 : Canned Heat, Chris Thomas King, Rockin' Tabby Thomas and the Mighty House Rockers, Andrew "Jr. Boy" Jones, The Excello Allstars with Earl Gaines and Roscoe Shelton, Mark May and the Agitators, The Bluebird Review with Wes Jeans, Mikki Honeycutt, and the Moore Town Horns, Andrew Baxter, Jr., Mason Ruffner,Randy Garibay and Cats Don't Sleep, Billy Bacon and the Forbidden Pigs , Mr. Walker.
2000 : Leon Russell, Savoy Brown featuring Kim Simmonds, Little Charlie and the Night Cats, Rick Moore and Mr. Lucky, Big Mike Griffin, Russell Jackson, Anthony Gomes, Brint Anderson, Sweet Miss Coffey and the Mississippi Burning Band, The Bluebirds and Mikki Honeycutt, The Headhunters, The Mofo Party Band , plus local bands .
2001: Kim Wilson and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Guitar Shorty, The Reba Russell Band, The Rockin' Highliners, Theresa Andersson, Joe "King" Carrasco and the Crowns, Andrew and Morgan Baxter and Serious Business, and Voodoo Healin' and other local bands.
2002 : Koko Taylor and Her Blues Machine, W. C. Clark, The Silent Partners Reunion featuring Russell Jackson, Tony Coleman, and Andrew"Jr. Boy" Jones, Joe Louis Walker, Anders Osborne, The Reba Russell Band, The DeRailers, The Radio King's Brian Templeton, Joe "King " Carrasco and the Crowns, and Ponty Bone and the Squeezetones.

Where we were is reflected in this: HOB Radio Hour June 1, 2002

In 2003, Alleyfest took a new direction, booking fewer national bands and deleting one of the stages.
2003 Headliners 38 Special, Percy Sledge.
2004 Eddie Money and Marshall Tucker Band.
2005 Mickey Thomas and Delbert McClinton.
2006 Three Dog Night and several local and area bands.
2007 Little River Band and KISS ARMY, a tribute band.
2008 Fabulous Thubderbirds and more tribute bands

What was your favorite year? You can leave a comment in the comments section below.

This money is pretty . . .

pretty much worthless that is.
Don't walk into a bar with any of these bills and expect to impress the barkeep with a round of cool ones for the locals. That will get you either laughed out of the place and in some cases, drug out into the jungle / dessert and left for dead - a la Indiana Jones (which "jumped the shark" in this last episode). Due to rampant inflation in the 3rd world countries, these bill may look impressive on the outside of a bank roll, but they are better used as toilet paper, "Whoa! Anybody got change for a 500,000 note? I gotta mess here!"

Those bank notes may be worthless, but these musical notes are...priceless.

Sorry, Master Card.

Something Special For The Holiday !

Holidays call for something SPECIAL and there's one thing I know, these brews are special. So, when it's time to take a break this Memorial Day... grab something special!

These are special, too!
First, in 1973, ongoing disputes over royalties forced David LaFlamme out of the group he created, and upon installing new violinist Greg Bloch, the remaining members issued It's a Beautiful Day...Today. Making this a hard to find album.

Next, a bluesier Sonny Landreth offering

And a less blues / more rockin' Tracy Nelson and Mother Earth

Finally, Some early border rockin' blues from the one and only Long John Hunter

Try these on for size!
