Quick add this up! 38,711 + 2626 + 1199, O.K what did you get? Now what exactly could this represent? Come on...guess. If your stumped, I'll tell you (unless you are Stump - then I'll still tell you) That's the number, give or take a few random songs on the F:Really Big Hard drive. This adds up to over 2,500 album folders. Some, like the Really Big Beatle Tribute, hold over 900 songs...and what does this mean? Well, I don't really know, but I'm going to take a break on the Rapidshare acct for a few months - but this shouldn't affect the Pando Pals or blog. This will give me a chance to better catalog the selections I have, and while I'm at it I'll still snag the occasional "new" old find - 'cause you can never have too many of the likes of these . . .

The Real Alleyfest

With Alleyfest "30" a few weeks away, naturally the subject came up tonight as to which year(s) were the best. Some though the middle years, while I thought we had just hit our stride before the bottom fell out in 2003. For those who may not remember, here is the real background to Alleyfest which will be 16 years old this year, AlleyArt is 30.

Alleyfest was the brainchild of 100 Acres of Heritage president, Jay Godfrey. He suggested combining AlleyArt, Alley Hoops, and Alley Musicfest into one three day event - rather than three one day events. This would save man power and cash resources for the group. The philosophy behind the music fest was simple, bring as many professional touring acts as budget allowed. We knew two things, for many it would be the only live art performance they would see during the year and almost all of the bands would not perform in a small city like Longview. Alley Musicfest was a spin off of Rigadoon held in 1989, and later changed to Musicfest in 1990 and 1991. Gary Primich, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Trout Fishing in America, Christine Albert, Dallas Brass and Electric and The Bluebirds palyed these events.

pretty much worthless that is.
Don't walk into a bar with any of these bills and expect to impress the barkeep with a round of cool ones for the locals. That will get you either laughed out of the place and in some cases, drug out into the jungle / dessert and left for dead - a la Indiana Jones (which "jumped the shark" in this last episode). Due to rampant inflation in the 3rd world countries, these bill may look impressive on the outside of a bank roll, but they are better used as toilet paper, "Whoa! Anybody got change for a 500,000 note? I gotta mess here!"

Those bank notes may be worthless, but these musical notes are...priceless.

Damn DEM Gas Prices Part whatever

Just filled up my compact car tonight and for the first time the 14gal. tank cost over 50 bucks, $51.25 to be exact. Which brings to mind, it was twelve years ago that, then President Clinton vetoed the ANWAR bill which would have allowed oil increased oil production in Alaska, reasoning behind this was it would be 10 years before any gas could be brought to production. At the time the Dept. of Energy issued to following report:

Gasoline prices drew much public attention in the spring of 1996, as regular conventional gasoline climbed 19 cents, from $1.06 in mid-February to a peak of $1.25in mid-May. A year later, prices reversed during the same time frame, falling from $1.23 in early January to $1.17 in mid-May. EIA explored the reasons behind these contrasting price changes.
Crude oil prices responded to shifting world petroleum supply-demand balances between 1996 and 1997. During the first quarter 1996, world petroleum supply growth was lower than expected, in part because Iraq's re-entry into the market was delayed. World demand for petroleum was high due to an unusually cold winter in the Northern hemisphere.

Now, twelve years later, gas is predicted to go over $4.00 per gallon, a price point promoted by Al Gore in his "its good for the environment" speeches and book. Since the Democrat majority entered the Congress, gas prices have gone up faster than a previously mentioned former president's member in the Oval Office than ever. Both Democratic presidential candidates, Obama and Clinton, and wanna be Dem, McCain, still don't see the need for more oil production in Alaska,the Gulf of Mexico (even though Cuba is drilling there now), or the Western US. Food prices and other goods continue to climb due to rising oil prices, Congress has the gall to call "Big Oil" on the carpet - not understanding basic economics 101 "Supply and Demand" while the traditional Democrat, the "working class and poor" continue to get screwed by their very own saviors. Makes me wonder, when will the "people" realize the same party that tried their best to keep slavery a part of America, is trying their best to create a whole new economic slave class with failed and failing "energy policies"

It makes me wish for those "high" May 1996 gas prices of S1.25. Want to predict what they will be in 2018 if the govt. continues to do nothing...
