CEA chair Christina Romer spins so hard on her MSNBC segment to make good news of losing a net 216,000 jobs because it was an improvement over losses earlier in the year.
Yes, while a loss of 216,000 jobs is better than 700,000 jobs, those 700,000 jobs are still lost. The 216,000 loss in August is the result that there are fewer "jobs" to lose. Current losses are not an improvement, remember It was Ms. Romer who stated the stimulus bill was needed to keep the jobless rate under 8%. Here is the administration's own illustration:
Now, using their own numbers lets see how well the "stimulus" thing is working:
With the unemployment rate now at 9.7%, one can only wonder when the rise in unemployment will end, and what would have happened if the "stimulus" had been tax cuts and tax relief, rather than the "Hey, Big Spender" pork bill!

Charlie Gets wRangel'd
Politicians have a lot to remember with all that "impo'tent bidness" to do on your behalf, what with all those caps and trades and ways and means and taking care of your health care and all, what's a person to do! Well that explains why Rep. Charlie Rangel; (Democrat - Harlem,NY) had a slip of the memory.
Mr. Rangel filed an amended financial disclosure form, which exposes omissions from his 2002 through 2006 records , is a treasure trove of outrage.
He "forgot" to report two checking accounts, one with the Congressional Federal Credit Union and one with Merrill Lynch valued between $250,000.oo and $500,000.oo.
He also had a brain fart regarding tens of thousands of dollars he's earning from dividends from a number of mutual funds and stocks.and the money made from the sale of a Harlem townhouse.
How was he to remember his net worth was between $1,028,024 and $2,495,000 and not the reported $516,015 and $1,316,000. What do you think, he's chairman of Ways and Means or something? Oh wait-a-minute, HE IS CHAIRMAN OF WAYS AND MEANS... the House committee charge with all things financial!
Looks like Mr. Rangel should join the prestigious ranks with fellow ex-Congressmen like William "Ice Box" Jefferson (Democrat - New Orleans, LA)...who commandeered a National Guard boat during Hurricane Katrina to lead the recovery effort of several thousand dollars from his New Orleans home; or Charlie's predecessor, Rep. Adam Clayton Powell, who gave "Off Shore Accounts" in Bimini when he had his cremated ashes spread over his beloved island home - also repository for many questionable cash deposits.

Meet Mr. Jones.
Mr. Jones,Anthony "Van" Jones, is the Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
When he graduated law school, Jones gave up plans to take a job in Washington, D.C., and moved to San Francisco instead There he got involved with Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), a group explicitly committed to revolutionary Marxist politics whose points of unity were revolutionary democracy, revolutionary feminism, revolutionary internationalism, the central role of the working class, urban Marxism, and Third World Communism.
Oh, did I mention he's an eloquent speaker and a sterling example of the Obama Administration's goal of "post partisan" politics. Here's a nice example.

Be Sure To Dress Your Kids In Brown On September 8th!
Have you heard of the President's plan to address ALL students from Kindergarten to 12th Grade on September 8th? Odds are you haven't. If you have a child in public school, maybe you should give the principal a ringy-dingy and ask them, "JUST WHAT THE H*LL IS GOING ON HERE!?!" ... Before the Speech:
• Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama and motivate students by asking the following questions:
Who is the President of the United States?
What do you think it takes to be President?
To whom do you think the President is going to be speaking?
Why do you think he wants to speak to you?
What do you think he will say to you?
• Teachers can ask students to imagine being the President delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States. What would you tell students? What can students do to help in our schools? Teachers can chart ideas about what they would say.
• Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?
During the Speech:
• As the President speaks, teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful. Students could use a note-taking graphic organizer such as a Cluster Web, or students could record their thoughts on sticky notes. Younger children can draw pictures and write as appropriate. As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following:
What is the President trying to tell me?
What is the President asking me to do?
What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?
• Students can record important parts of the speech where the President is asking them to do something. Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?

House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr. of Connecticut speaks while colleagues play solitaire on their computers while the State House vote on the budget. Here's a close-up of these hard working servants of the voters!
Meanwhile, in Kansas, the state is poised for an unlikely distinction: It's about to get into the casino business, not merely by blessing gambling and taxing the profits but by becoming the legal owner of the casinos themselves. At least we know where the Connecticut legislature will be holding next year's planning conference!

Say, Mr. Chrysler, How Was That Cash For Clunkers Program?
The Good Old Chryslers...
While Cash for Clunkers helped foreign manufacturers, some bad news came to the bailed-out Chrysler corporation, this includes you, Mr. Taxpayer Investor.
Chrysler sales were down by 15% during the Cash for Clunkers give-a-way. Demonstrating the program wasn’t the success touted by the Obama administration.
The idea behind the scheme "Cash for Clunkers" aka "Taxes for Taxis" was to give Chrysler (and other car makers) a boost in sales in hopes of getting union workers back to work. The fall in Chrysler's sales during a period of "free money" shows how badly damaged the automakers reputation is, and many of the employees may soon find themselves out of a job for good.
Thanks Mr. Obama for making such a great investment on my behalf, now if we can only get this nifty Fiats on the Chrysler lot.

Oh, by the way, the federal government still owes over $2.877 billion to dealers from the $3 billion "Cash for Clunkers" give-a-way. A Chicago television station broke recently exposed the realities of the program: "Out of 142 deals they owe us for, we've gotten paid on seven," a Hyundai dealer said. Also,from a Ford dealer, "We had 102 cash for clunkers. We've been paid for one." Billion Automotive sold close to a thousand vehicles but has only been reimbursed for 272 of them. "I wonder how long they'd wait if I owed them $3.2 million. I think they'd be at my door or at least my banker's door," Billion said.
